Apple has powered the iPhone 16 lineup with the A18 chip, which is also found in the iPhone 13 Pro, but with a refined internal structure for better thermal performance. The A18 chip includes a Hexa-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Furthermore, the iPhone 16 models boast a dual-core accelerometer that can measure forces up to 256Gs. This accelerometer, paired with a high dynamic range gyroscope, supports the Crash Detection feature, which can notify emergency services if you’re in a serious accident and unable to use your phone. Apple has also integrated several sensors for this functionality, such as a barometer to track changes in cabin pressure, GPS for monitoring speed fluctuations, and a microphone to pick up sounds related to car crashes.
